Joyetech eVic-VTC Mini Review
Posted by
onI am here to proudly review my first temperature control device made by Joyetech called the eVic-VTC Mini. Many of you have perhaps heard of the Joyetech eVic-VT, a temperature control device, which is pretty popular in the market right now. The eVic-VTC Mini is a newer and smaller version of the eVic-VT. With temperature control, it allows users to adjust their prefer settings with greater tweaking. The main objective of the device to ensure the coils does not reach a certain temperature to avoid overheating the coils when using Ni (Nickel 200) or Ti (Titanium) coils. It helps with keeping the vapors at a certain temperature for ideal preference allowing vapers to get the best taste and clouds they enjoy the most.
Features
The difference between the eVic-VT and the eVic-VTC Mini are mainly the appearance of the device, and the Mini uses interchangeable external battery while the eVic-VT has a built-in 5000mAh battery. When using an external battery, it offers more options for you to use different types of batteries of what you feel are the best performance batteries. Recharging the battery on the go can be a hassle so with an interchangeable battery slot, you can easily replace the low battery with a charged battery. Using an external 18650 battery allows the device to be much smaller than original eVic-VT but battery capacity life greatly reduced. Carrying spare 18650s will increase battery life for the device.
The device uses micro USB charging for quick and easy charging, which can be convenient since a lot of other devices uses micro USB. Pass-through charging allows users to vape while charging and does not require an external charger. It is recommended that the battery is at least 25 amps, and with the Sony VTC4, the box mod performs great. It also worked great with the Samsung 25R.
The 18650 battery cover on the eVic-VTC Mini works well by holding strongly in place by using two rectangles sized magnetics without any rattle. The cover can easily be removed with the groove on the bottom of the mod. Replacing the battery is fast and quick with the magnetic cover.
The VTC Mini mod is small, compact, and comfortable to hold when vaping. It has a length of 3.23 inches with 1.5 inch width and 0.87 inch diameter. The mod has no sharp edge so there is no issue with holding the mod comfortably. The Mini comes with a 510 connection and it will accept most sub ohm tanks.
The eVic-VT Mini is identical in performance to the eVic-VT allowing users to adjust the wattage from 1 watt to 60 watt. The temperature can be adjusted from 100°C to 315°C on Ti (Titanium) or Ni (Nickel) mode depending on the material of the coil. The eVic-VTC Mini comes with a new feature of Bypass mode, which is not featured in the original eVic-VT. Bypass mode allows the device to become a direct voltage output, which depends on the battery output. Bypass mode will fire coils in the range of 0.15 to 3.5 ohm resistance whereas VT mode allows coil resistance of 0.05 to 1.0 ohm. The bypass mode can reach up to 8.0V, which is way more than enough to vape.
The visual display on the VTC Mini is a beautiful OLED screen. The text on the display is crisp and sharp, and it is easy to read in low light or bright light. There are four categories of display on the Mini: VT-Ni mode/VT-Ti mode/Bypass mode; wattage/voltage; atomizer resistance; battery life/puff count/time. The categories can be altered by pressing the fire button 3 times using the left button to move up and down, and the right button to change to the available options. Updating to the latest firmware will allow users with more options to choose from.
The buttons on the device are solid so you can feel and know when the button is being pressed with a clicking sound. The device can be turned on and off by pressing the button 5 times. Locking the variable feature can be accomplished by holding down the right and left button.
The kit includes the eGo One Mega VT tank with a large e-liquid capacity of 4ml. The eGo One Mega uses typical bottom filling, which is easy and quick to fill by removing the bottom piece of the tank. Using new temperature control Ti or Ni coils, the eGo Mega VT allows it to work perfectly with the eVic-VTC in allowing it to adjust to the perfect temperature. With two large air holes, the tank allows massive airflow and adjusting the airflow is smooth and easy. The drip tip is removable and it can be used with custom drip tips.
Performance
I enjoyed the performance of the eVic-VTC Mini with its temperature control settings. With temperature controls, it allows me to get the best flavor and clouds out of the device. I never got a burnt taste when using temperature control. TC helps keep the vape cool and never had an issue with the e-liquid spitting back into my mouth. Vaping was smooth and clean, especially when using with the Ti and Ni coils. I found it best when vaping around 270°C at 27 watts.
When using with a regular Kanthal coils, Bypass mode is great because it allows me to get the direct voltage without having to adjust the wattage according to the resistance of the atomizer to reach the certain voltage output.
The eGo One Mega VT is a good tank but not a great tank because the coils are small compared to the Triton and Subtank so it did not last as long. I was switching out the coil every 1 to 2 weeks depending on how much I was vaping. The flavor from the tank is okay but TC coils surely did help with the flavor. I found the capacity was pretty large for the size of the tank. The airflow control is very useful and I found the large air holes help produce huge clouds and airflow control was easy to alter.
The display on the VTC Mini is what I really like about the device. The display is very easy to read also it allows me to change the display to my liking. Compared to other box mods, the eVic-VTC would probably be the best display I have ever seen. Updating the new firmware for the eVic-VTC will allow me to have more options to display.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I would rate this device 5 stars for its clean appearance and wonderful performance. The size of the device is pocket-sized and easy to carry around, It is not too heavy and the interchangeable battery allows me to use different types of batteries. The temp control works great in allowing tasteful vapors with smooth vaping. Never had an issue with hot vapor when setting the device at my ideal temperature. The bypass mode is great also in getting a direct voltage instead of relying on the wattage and resistance to produce a certain voltage. The OLED is beautiful and it comes in handy in helping me find the perfect vape. The ease of use of this is pretty basic when understanding sub ohm and temperature control vaping.
