Wismec Reuleaux RX200 Review
Posted by
onLet’s take a closer look of the Reuleaux RX200 made by Wismec and designed by JayBo.
The RX200 box mod is similar in design with the Reuleaux DNA200, using 3 replaceable 18650 batteries. The main difference between the DNA200 and RX200 is the pricing and chipset. The DNA200 is powered by the Evolv DNA200 chipset, while the RX200 uses a more affordable Joyetech chipset; still offering great features like the DNA200 such as temperature control and 200 wattage output. The RX200 was designed to offer a more affordable price for the Reuleaux compared to the Reuleaux DNA200, which cost almost 3 times the amount of the RX200.
Design and Construction
The RX200 is designed by Jay Bo Designs, who is known for the Tobh Atty atomizer. The design of Reuleaux RX200 comes in a hexagon shape perfect for fitting three 18650 batteries. The device looks kind of like a futuristic mod, very unique in design unlike the typical “box” shaped mod.
The mod is bulky in size (50mm*40mm) since it holds 3 18650 batteries, but not too long in height (84mm). It is comfortable to hold even for smaller hands because of its hexagon-shaped construction. The device can be a little uncomfortable to carry around because of its plump size and weight due to three 18650 batteries.
The device is available in 2 colors of solid black or white and cyan. The cyan and white gives the device a stylish appearance to the mod while the solid black give the RX200 a mighty appearance.
The Reuleaux RX200 built is sturdy maintaining a striking appearance. The mod includes 3 vented holes on each side to ensure there is enough ventilation. The buttons are easy to press with a clicking sound while maintaining a good pressure to ensure the button isn’t accidently being pressed. The button does not rattle when the device is being moved around.
The battery cover on the RX200 comes with strong magnets to ensure the cover stays in place. The battery cover can be a little harder to remove because of its big cover size. There are two grooves on the side of the cover to allow for easier removal. The device includes a battery ribbon to help easily remove the batteries. The negative terminal is spring loaded to ensure there is a proper connection for the batteries, and with positive and negative symbols to ensure the batteries are placed correctly.
For the display, the RX200 has your standard OLED screen that shows the battery life, power, current temperature or wattage, and atomizer resistance. The display is a little bit smaller than the Reuleaux DNA200 but includes the same features.
As for the 510 connection pin, the connector is spring loaded to ensure there is a fitting connection between the atomizer and the batteries.
Usability and Performance
When it comes to usability, the RX200 executes all the desire needs coming out of the box. The RX200 allows you to set the device in four output modes of TC-Ni (Ni200 nickel), TC-Ti (Titanium), TC-SS (Stainless steel), and variable wattage. So depending on the type of coils being used, the mod allows you to select the mode tailored for the type of coil being used. Very similar to the Joyetech eVic-VTC Mini, pressing the button three times will allow you to change the mode.
In temperature mode, the device can reach up to 600°F and 300°C and as low as 200°F and 100°C. It can be displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit by adjusting the temperature until it passes the highest temperature to the desire temperature measurement.
The Reuleaux can produce an output power of 200W with consistency due to the fact that three 18650 batteries (recommended at least 25amps) are powering the device. You can go for days of vaping without having to worry about a recharge with the RX200. The device can be charged using the micro-USB port at the bottom of the mod for quick charging without requiring an external charger. It is recommended using an external charger for faster charging compared to using the micro USB charging.
The device can go into stealth mode, which basically turns off the display, achieved by holding down the fire and down button. Another option available is locking the resistance of the atomizer by holding down the fire and up button. And you can lock the wattage or temperature adjustment by pressing down the up and down button at the same time.
Flip the screen of your device by holding the up and down button simultaneously while the device is off. Allowing you to flip the screen will make the display easier to read depending on which sided hand you are.
As for the performance of the RX200, it does not come short of what is expected. Just like the performance of the Reuleaux DNA200, the RX200 performs as well, being much less expensive than the original Reuleaux DNA200. With three 18650 batteries, the mod can output 200W continuously without any issues. Temperature control works great with this device when selecting the correct mode for the temperature coil.
The firmware is upgradeable in letting you stay in touch with latest Wismec technology. Updating to the latest firmware version 3.00 will improve the performance that was lacking in the previous version. The latest update allows an additional mode of TCR (temperature coefficient of resistance).
Compatible with most sub ohm tanks and rebuildables, the device can accept atomizer resistance from 0.05-1.5ohm in temperature control mode, and 0.1-3.5ohm in variable wattage mode.
Final Thoughts
For the price and features of the RX200, it is a worthwhile box mod featuring a unique hexagon design that uses three 18650 batteries for high performance with long lasting production. Fabricating the same features as the Reuleaux DNA200 while being less expensive, the RX200 is a brilliant and powerful device with its temperature control mode and 200W maximum output. Even though it is kind of bulky, but you can’t go wrong with this uniquely designed high-end box mod.
